The contoured tube mouse loft was developed to provide a place where the female can find relief from the frantic life on the cage floor with a litter of aggressive hungry individuals. The contoured tube loft provides an elevated place of refuge where feed can be consumed without the constant bother of the litter. A preliminary study indicates the mice routinely use the contoured tube loft. Initial results indicate the knockout dams are less likely to eat the litters. Also it is anticipated that the loft will provide for the dam freer access to feeder and result in less weight loss during lactating.
